A’sala-mualay-cum! My name is Martin – or Marty – Fullard and I’m a British expatriate who has been living in the United Arab Emirates since early 2008. It can be a scary place at first to the ill-informed but once you get settled you’ll soon forget you ever had any reservations. The original purpose of this blog was to tell the story of my time out here; but after 10 minutes that got a bit boring.
So instead I observe, analyse, and draw comparisons between the UAE and The West, and where possible try to formulate solutions so that we can get by with minimal headaches. This roughly translates into me just ranting the whole time and generally offloading my pessimism onto the rest of you. I also, as your servant, act as a social commentator on all things UAE; whether that be about where the money will come from in the future or whose idea it was to build a bus that serves as much use as chocolate teapot.
This is a place where we can chew the fat and tell it as it is (with a pinch of hyperbole and some absurd oxymoron’s). Those who are easily offended may be offended and those unable to read between the lines may wish to visit other blogs. If you can’t put your tongue in your cheek then I suggest you put your head in the sand instead. Hope you enjoy…
Oh, and late last year UAE Uncut was voted into the top 20 blogs in the UAE. Ok there were only 20 entries but hey, what have you done with your life?
